On March 24, 2015, Asst. Prof. Dr. Teekayu Plangkoon Jorns, Assistant to the President for International Relations, Khon Kaen University presided over the event to open “the 1st Japanese Cultural Event” together with KKU administrators at Former Degree Presentation Pavilion, Khon Kaen University. In addition, Dr. Akkaranee Timinkul, the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, was the key person who cooperated with Broadcast Thai Television Company Limited and Journal Entertainment Tribute Inc. to hold this event. The main purpose of this event was to build the understanding in relevant to Japanese cultures to KKU lectures, staff, students, and other interested participants. The event presented many important and outstanding activities of Japanese cultures such as the portable Shinto shrine (Mikoshi), tea ceremony, Bon festival dance (Bon Odori), Japanese calligrapher, and Yukata dressing with quite a number of interested people. This event not only enhanced the understanding of Japanese cultures but it also strengthened the relationship between Japan and Thailand.
