» KKU extends collaboration in medicine with University of Tsukuba, Japan (1338 Views)

On February 8, 2017, KKU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with University of Tsukuba, Japan to extend and support medicine research collaboration together. KKU representatives were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kittichai Trairatanasirichai, President of Khon Kaen University and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanchai Phanthongwiriyakul (MD), Dean of Faculty of Medicine. The representatives from University of Tsukuba, Japan were Dr. Kyosuke Nagata, President of Tsukuba University and Dr. Akira Hara Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. Many honorary delegates were witnesses in the  signing ceremony including Prof. Dr. Kanok Wongtra-ngan, Former Vice President of Khon Kaen Council and a former member of the House of Representatives; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Monchai Duangchinda, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Prof. Dr. Apirat Siritaratiwat, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kulthida Tuamsuk, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Maitree Inprasitha, the Dean of Faculty of Education.

Tsukuba University was ranked as the top 219 in the QS World University Rankings 2015/2016. This MOU focused on exchanges of lectures, academicians, researchers, staff, and students for the development of curriculum and research together. The duration of the collaboration was extended to 5 more years. Also, University of Tsukuba and KKU have had academic and research collaborations for 10 years in the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. This collaboration in the field of medicine will be an important step for collaborative development, academic exchange, and strengthening relations and understanding between the two universities.
