» KKU administrators participate in the Times Higher Education Asia Universities Summit in South Korea (1370 Views)

On March 14-16, KKU administrators namely Asst. Prof. Dr. Teekayu Plangkoon Jorns, Assistant to the President for International Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantarat Komanasin, Assistant to the President for Academic Affairs, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thidarut  Boonmars, Assistant to the President for Research, participated in The Times Higher Education Asia Universities Summit hosted in partnership with University of Ulsan, South Korea  and also had privileged access to the exclusive analysis and understanding of the data that goes behind the 2017 THE Asia University Ranking Results by Time Higher Education.

Mr. Yeon Cheon Oh, President of University of Ulsan, Mr. Joon-sik Lee, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, Republic of Korea, Mr. Gi-Hyeon Kim, Mayor of Metropolitan City of Ulsan, and Mr. Phil Baty, editor of THE World University Rankings presided over and opened the event.

Mr. Joon-sik Lee, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, mentioned in the summit that the education was at the heart of changes in South Korea to develop from an underdeveloped country after Korea war to become one of the OECD countries (The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) within 50 years by creating the "Smart Information Society" that used 5 main factors which included flexibility, autonomy, customization, expertise, and humanization.  

The KKU administrators also visited Hyundai Heavy Industries which reflected its roles towards the development of local universities. Furthermore, the summit was attended by many administrators from around the world which created an environment to build international collaborative networks. This year, Khon Kaen University ranked between top 201-250 in the 2017 THE Asia University Ranking or the 7th in Thailand by Time Higher Education.
