» KKU holds the 19th Art Thesis “Maturity” (1280 Views)

On May 1-5, 2017, the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Department of Visual Arts managed and held an art exhibition as a part of Art Thesis requirement. The objective of this class was to encourage 4th year students to learn artwork creating process. The knowledge obtained during the four years of learning is used and applied for creating the most effective artwork as each student can produce.

The exhibition is supported by Central Plaza, Khon Kaen was held on the 1st floor of the plaza. It started at approximately 16.00 hrs with western music performance by students of Music Department, Khon Kaen University. The opening ceremony began with the welcome speech by Ms. Chanika Saensuksawad, Manager of Department of Marketing Strategy, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niyom Wongpongkam, Dean of Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, presented a souvenir to the guest of honor, Asst. Prof. Dr. Denpong Soodphakdee, Vice President for Academic and Communication Affairs.  

“Maturity” literally means the transition from youth to adulthood at the age of 20. People of this age are mature enough to create new and outstanding ideas beyond limitations, reflected through various types artworks which express the identity of the creators. The whole exhibition has been arranged merely by Visual Arts students of the 20th batch, and the name “Maturity” was agreed.

The crucial part of this Art Thesis is that the artwork conceived students by utilizing their knowledge, competency, and experience gained during the four years of study, together with researching, and innovatively create their artworks to present them to the public. Theories and practice have been applied to working on their artwork with additional information retrieved from sources outside of class. This helps students to acquire skills and experience and be ready for creating outstanding artworks, managing the exhibition, and solving problems, which promotes the overall quality of the students.
