» KKU discusses collaborations with New Castle University, UK (1277 Views)

On August 17, 2017, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nawaporn S. Snodin, a lecturer from the Faculty of Humanities, Kasetsard University together with Professor Steve Walse and Dr. Tony Young, two lecturers from the School of Education, Communication, and Language Sciences, New Castle University, United Kingdom visited Khon Kaen University. They were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer, Asst. Prof. Dr. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Collaboration, and Mr. Bhirawit Satthamnuwong, a lecturer from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences who received the “Newton Fund” from British Council this year. He is going to pursue his doctoral degree at Southampton University, UK in 2018.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nawaporn S. Snodin and Dr. Tony Young received the Newton Advanced Fellowship from the British Academy and  the Thai Research Fund (TRF) for two years to conduct the research project entitled “Enhancing the Quality of International Student and Staff Mobility Experience: Narratives from International Students and Academics cross Different Regions in Thailand” Therefore, they expected to acquire comprehensive information such as perspectives and experiences regionally of KKU international students to support this project, especially from CLMV countries. They also discussed about management and policy in the development of international inbound mobility. Moreover, the delegates from New Castle University would like to have collaborations with KKU in terms of exchanges such as staff, students, and researches in various fields, especially in humanities and social sciences with focus on professional communications, cross-culture disciplines, and educational technologies. Both universities planned to start an academic collaboration in the coming years.
