In the morning of November 9, 2017, Asst. Prof. Dr. Acharawan Tophak-Ngam, Assistant to the President for International Cooperation, together with Prof. Dr. Surasakdi Wongratanacheewin, Dean of Graduated School and some other KKU representatives visited Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD). This visit was warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Sarbiran, Vice Rector for Cooperation and International Affairs and the Director of International Relations Division and several academic staff. The aim of the visit was to further discuss the possibilities towards collaborations between KKU and UAD, and exchange and propose several pathways for both universities. Especially, some UAD lecturers are still studying in KKU, and some staff already graduated from KKU which shows the longtime good relations among both universities. Even more, the KKU Graduated School had a big chance to introduce our international programs to UAD students and the processes of selection with relevant information for studying in KKU. Also, the MOA (Memorandum of Agreement) between the Faculty of Technology, KKU and the Engineering Faculty, UAD was signed and officially agreed at that day. It proves how active both universities are.
In the afternoon of November 9, 2017, Asst. Prof. Dr. Acharawan Tophak-Ngam and KKU representatives visited Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and were warmly greeted by Prof. Dr. Marsetyawan, Director of Graduate Studies of Faculty of Medicine. The objective of this visit was to strengthen academic and research collaborations, to promote our international curriculum program for increasing the number of International students, as well as to enhance the possibilities for students and staff exchanging programs. UGM is very well known and the oldest public university in Indonesia and is strong in health sciences and engineering areas. The possibilities to do further collaboration might start with student exchanges in several levels. Especially for the undergraduate level, it will be a joining course or credit transfer programs, and the graduate level will depend on mutual interest or expertise. UGM is interested in building collaborations with the faculties of medicine, public health, nursing, biotechnology and science. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between both universities was also discussed, and it will be worked out in the near future.
On November 10, 2017, Asst. Prof. Dr. Acharawan Tophak-Ngam and KKU representatives stopped by the Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) and were pleasantly welcomed by Dr. Wiryono Raharjo M.Arch, the Director of Office of International Affairs and his team. UII is one of the leading private universities in Indonesia, and it was also the first time for KKU to visit. Then, there were several issues of possibilities to discuss and to strengthen students or academic exchanges, offering international programs and collaboration in research. There was also a parallel session during the visit to offer or guide our international programs to the students and relevant staff there. After learning more about each other, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between both universities will surely evolve in the near future.
Before leaving Yogyakarta, KKU administrates held the 1st Indonesian Alumni meeting “KKU Indonesian Blood Reunion” on November 11, 2017 at the Alana Yogyakarta Hotel. Several alumni with their relatives participated in this event. It was the platform of KKU administrations to meet and share with their alumni such a family member visiting; meanwhile the alumni had a chance to see their “old” friends and co-students. However, the main objective was to introduce “KKU explores to Indonesia” (will be launching around the beginning of next year, 2018), in order to rise the amount of international students from Indonesia, which is a country with big potential and huge support from their government for aboard studying or researching. At the 1st KKU Indonesian Blood gathering, the chairman and secretary were also selected as ambassadors for KKU to liaison and cooperate with KKU. All in all, it was a great and warm reunion to be memorized.
