On January 11, 2018, KKU administrators led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nawarat Wara-aswapati Charoen, Vice President for International Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Collaboration, the Deans, administrators and the Representatives from several faculties warmly welcomed Mr. Shiro Terashima, First Secretary, the Embassy of Japan in Bangkok and the Embassy group, and the representatives from Japanese University liaison offices at Sarasin Conference Room, 2nd floor, Sirikunakorn Building on the occasion of their courtesy visit to Khon Kaen University to meet with KKU administrators, discuss academic collaboration, organize the JSPS Presentation, and strengthen relationship. Also, the discussion focused on staff and student exchanges, research conduction, dual degree programs, internship program, and co-operative education program. At present, Khon Kaen University has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 74 Japanese institutions for academic and research collaborations.
In the afternoon, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nawarat Wara-aswapati Charoen, Vice President for International Affairs together with Mr. Shiro Terashima, First Secretary, the Embassy of Japan in Bangkok, and Dr. Akkaranee Timinkul, President of the Old Japanese Students’ Club, Northeast Thailand presided over the 18th Japan Education Fair 2018 at Saisuree Jutikul Hall, the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University for KKU students, students in northeastern areas, and other interested people. The event featured many activities including special talks on Japanese Government (MEXT: Monbukagakusho) Scholarship, further study in Japan by Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), introduction to Japanese universities, and “Life and Experiences Studying in Japan” by former students who studied in universities in Japan. More than 400 participants joined the event.
After the opening ceremony of the 18th Japan Education Fair 2018, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nawarat Wara-aswapati Charoen, Vice President for International Affairs presided over the opening ceremony of the presentation entitled “JSPS activity in Asia and sharing information about research opportunity in Japan”. This event was organized by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) led by Prof. Dr. Kuniaki Yamashita, Director of JSPS Bangkok Office and his team. Two KKU lecturers also gave the presentation on their research experience in Japan namely Prof. Dr. Kittisak Sawanyawisuth from the Faculty of Medicine and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Aimimtham from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Many lecturers and researchers attended the event to obtain knowledge on research opportunities.
